The
National Day of Prayer will be observed on
Thursday, May 3rd at the West Bend City Hall green from 12 noon to 1:00. This is the 61st annual observance of the National Day of Prayer. The theme this year is "One Nation Under God".
Our founding fathers first called for a National Day of Prayer in 1775 as they took on the bold task of forming a truly free nation. Every generation since has honored this tradition of prayer. Since the very founding of our nation there have been more than 1400 calls to prayer issued by America's leaders, including 33 U.S. Presidents. This cherished tradition is a fundamental part of our rich heritage. May we not be the generation that allows this freedom to slip away.
Chaplain and retired firefighter Jim Zierke will give the address this year and various local leaders will contribute to the prayers for our local, state and national government and concerns, including the family, the military, education, Israel, and the church. Char West will lead in patriotic songs and worship. Come lift up your voices in prayer with your countrymen.
